Getting started
The first two in-game weeks — roughly three to four hours of play — are free with no interruptions. If you want to keep going, a single one-time purchase unlocks the entire valley, including every future seasonal update.
There is no subscription, no energy system, no adverts and no consumable currency. One purchase, once.
No. Sunny Hollow is fully playable in airplane mode and we test every release that way. An internet connection is only needed for three optional things: iCloud save sync, Game Center achievements, and restoring a previous purchase.
Yes. Apple Pencil works everywhere your finger does, and gives you two extras: pressure-sensitive brush strokes when painting fences and paths, and pixel-precise placement in build mode. Pencil double-tap toggles between build and inspect mode.
MFi and Bluetooth controllers work for movement, tool selection and menus. Building and decorating remain touch-first — precision placement with a stick is not something we could make feel good, so we did not ship it.
Saves, purchases & accounts
Saves sync through iCloud automatically when three conditions are met: both devices are signed in to the same Apple ID, iCloud Drive is enabled for the game, and both devices are online at least once after you play.
Check it under Settings → your name → iCloud → Show All → Sunny Hollow. If a save is not appearing, open the in-game Settings menu and tap Sync Now while connected to Wi-Fi.
Often yes. If iCloud was enabled, the most recent synced save is still in your iCloud account — reinstall the game and it will be offered on first launch. If iCloud was off, the save lived only on that device and cannot be recovered after deletion.
Contact us with your Apple ID (do not send your password) and the approximate date you last played. We keep no backups of your save ourselves — see our Privacy Policy.
Open the in-game Settings menu and tap Restore Purchases. You will be asked to confirm with your Apple ID. The unlock is tied to your Apple ID, not to a device, so it never needs to be bought twice.
If restore fails, sign out of the App Store and back in (Settings → App Store → Sign Out), then try again while connected to Wi-Fi.
All App Store purchases are billed and refunded by Apple, so refunds must go through them. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, choose the purchase and request a refund. Apple normally decides within 48 hours.
We cannot issue refunds ourselves and we cannot see your order details — but if Apple declines and you believe that is wrong, contact us and we will support your case where we can.
Technical
Try these in order — the first two fix almost every case:
- Force-quit the app and reopen it.
- Restart the iPad. It is a cliché because it works.
- Check you have at least 2 GB of free storage in Settings → General → iPad Storage.
- Update to the latest iPadOS in Settings → General → Software Update.
- Reinstall the app. Your iCloud save is safe as long as sync was enabled before you deleted it.
Still crashing? Send us the device model, iPadOS version and app version — all three are on the in-game Settings screen.
Heavy decoration is the usual cause. Each placed light source costs real render time, so a valley with a few hundred lanterns will struggle on older iPads.
In Settings → Graphics you can lower the lighting quality, reduce particle density and cap the frame rate at 30 fps. Lowering lighting quality alone typically recovers most of the loss.
Achievements need an active internet connection at the moment they unlock, and Game Center must be signed in. Achievements earned while offline are queued locally and submitted the next time you are online — but only if you open the game while connected.
Also check Settings → Game Center to confirm you are signed in, and that the game is allowed to use Game Center.
Sunny Hollow renders at 120 Hz on ProMotion displays, which looks lovely and costs power. In Settings → Graphics, switching the frame rate cap to 60 or 30 fps roughly doubles battery life on supported iPads.
Also try lowering screen brightness or enabling Low Power Mode — the game respects it and automatically reduces particle effects.
Email support@88741.com with what you expected to happen, what actually happened, and the steps to reproduce it. A screenshot or screen recording helps enormously.
Please include your device model, iPadOS version and app version — all three are listed at the bottom of the in-game Settings screen, and there is a "Copy Diagnostics" button that puts them on your clipboard.
Accessibility & your data
Options live in Settings → Accessibility:
- Interface text scaling from 100% to 200%, independent of the system setting.
- Three colour palettes designed for deuteranopia, protanopia and tritanopia.
- Reduced motion — removes screen shake, weather particles and parallax.
- High-contrast outlines on interactive objects.
- Full VoiceOver support with labelled controls and rotor navigation.
Sunny Hollow does not collect any personal information. No analytics SDK ships in the app, no advertising identifier is read, and we do not operate an account system, so there is nothing for us to delete. Your save lives in your own iCloud account.
The only data we ever hold is what you send us directly by email. Ask us to erase it at privacy@88741.com and we will. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese are fully localised today, including voice-free but fully rewritten dialogue. Japanese and Korean are in progress for a future update.
If you spot a translation error, email us the screen and the phrase — we fix these in every patch.
